Dr. Anna Hüncke

From 2011 to 2020 I was a Doctoral Candidate and research assistant at the Chair of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Konstanz. In my PhD project I dealt with migration and concepts of borders and human trafficking in South Africa. The project was funded by the DFG priority program “Adaption und Kreativität in Afrika” [adaption and creativity in Africa].

In November 2020, I started a position as a research associate at the Franco-German Forum for the Future in Berlin. The Forum for the Future is affiliated with the Institute for Transformative Sustainability Studies (IASS), Potsdam, and is anchored in the Aachen Treaty between France and Germany.

As a field researcher in action research, I am mainly responsible for cooperating with municipalities in Germany that are committed to social, economic and/or ecological transformation in their region. In this regard, I work with the city of Marburg on the topic of collaborative governance and climate protection. In doing so, I accompany the city in the implementation of the local climate action plan. At the same time, I write analyses and work on publications.  I am also involved in the dialogue events and public relations work of the Forum for the Future. In all these activities, I benefit from my field research experience in anthropology and I am happy to have found a way to closely link ethnographic work with practice. I also see a connection between working ethnographically and my work for the Forum for the Future in the fact that I can deal with a large number of different actors and constantly learn about new thematic complexities.
